Iviani DEB primary School

 mitto-andei Kenya

Iviani is a rural village of 12,000 people located in the Mtito Andei Division, neighboring the Tsavo Game Reserve. Known for its warm, family-oriented community, the village faces significant challenges due to the large elephant population, which complicates farming efforts. Most residents rely on maize farming for their livelihood, living in simple homes made from handmade mud bricks, with an average annual income of approximately 30,000 Kenyan Shillings (around $230 USD).
On mission trips, teams partner with Iviani DEB Primary School in Mtito Andei, working alongside Principal Elizabeth Muthai and her staff. Projects include building and maintaining essential infrastructure, such as the well, which has already been successfully completed, and ongoing efforts to finish the perimeter fence to protect the school from wildlife and complete the administration building. Teams also engage the community by leading a Kids’ Club and visiting local families to experience life in rural Kenya.
Accommodations for participants are at Tsavo Inn, where meals are provided. After several days of service, teams enjoy a safari at Amboseli National Park. Advance Mission prioritizes safety and will adjust plans as needed to ensure the well-being of all participants. Whether you join a trip or support from afar, there are many ways to contribute—through prayer, volunteering, or donations—to help communities like Iviani thrive.
